Game 7 - Thu 4.24 - W

On Thursday we played the Raiderettes to try to avenge our 1st loss of the season.

FINAL SCORE
Whos: 9
Raiderettes: 5

RECAP
We opened the show strong on Thursday with our lead batter Shelbey knocking one to the outfield to score an opening inside the park home run. After a couple of walks, the bats came alive again with Jade hitting a double bringing in 2 runs. A couple of walks, followed by a couple of strike outs were capped by Mari hitting another double to bring Destinee in for our 4th run and retiring the side.

Now I asked for our bats to wake up, but this was a great, exciting first inning for the Whos, taking the lead by 4.

Raiderettes took to the plate and after a couple of strike outs, it seemed like the Whos would hold them scoreless in the opening frame. But a game Raiderette managed to slip one by us for their own inside the park home run, bringing in an earlier walk. Jade regained her composure though and got us our 3rd out, closing down the 1st.

Whos at bat for the 2nd inning. The Raiderettes defense started to tighten up and quickly started holding the Who charge. Maricella after a walk, managed to get herself into scoring position. Shelbey hit one, but was stopped at first, but not before getting Maricella across the plate increasing the Who lead by 1.

The Raiderettes, playing with a deficit of players were not out of it yet as they were trying their best to mount an offense. But a combination of good pitching by Shelbey and runner control by Hylah dashed their hopes as the Raiderettes struck out for a 3rd time.

The Whos, smelling the win come to bat in the 3rd and much like the Raiderettes in the previous half inning, put girls to score, but ultimately were held to 0 runs for their side.

Shelbey, pitching for the Whos in the 3rd, looked to be struggling at first allowing a couple of walks, but then came on to strike 2 girls out. A Raiderette girl managed to get a piece of a ball and score 2 runs, threatening the Who lead. Shelbey re-focused to get the last out of the inning, but the Who lead, going into the 4th was reduced to 1.

Feeling the Raiderettes breathing down their necks, the Whos made their offensive stand with renewed drive. After a couple of initial walks and notching their first out of the inning, Shelbey, repeating her performance from the 1st, hit another home run to quickly put 4 more points on the board.

The Raiderettes now had their work cut out for them to try to catch up to the Whos. The first batter walked. Another hit a double bringing in the first batter and it seemed like the Raiderettes were going to close the gap, but Jade managed to string together enough strikes to close the show for the win.

GAME BALL
2 game balls were given out for this game. Mari, who has been on the verge of getting one for a couple of games now was awarded 1 for her consistent and effective base coverage and the early double. Good job Mari! You are doing great as one of our key infield players. The second went to Shelbey for 2 home runs in the game. Nuff said! Great work Shelbey.
